We
have found that most people will sign up for a much lower skill
level than the skills they possess on a motorcycle. DON'T BE SHY!
Trackdays are designed to hone abilities and have fun; there are
no trophies. That being stated, most riders do not ride at 100%
(we recommend NOT to ride at 100%). Therefore, a safe and controlled
environment is observed and respected. Unsafe passing, contact
and other dangerous riding is deemed poor etiquette and you will
be asked to leave if done so.
New
to SuperMoto but not new to motorcycles? This is a typical dilemma
for many since SuperMoto is often a "secondary" niche
for a motorcyclist. If you have plenty of seat-time (such as expert
dirt riders and/or roadracers) but have never or rarely ridden
on a karting track, we would recommend that you ride in the B
or C Groups. Karting tracks, although very small and tight, are
physically demanding. For the dirt rider, this may not be an issue,
but for the roadracer, this may be surprising at first where roadracing
circuits are often 6X the length of a karting track, allowing
for more "resting" time between turns. For the most
part, a dirt rider may have the advantage in handling a SuperMoto,
but knowledge of traction and suspension issues on pavement may
seem new.
Select
your group with discretion. We will bump you up or down depending
on how you feel.
Q:
WHY DO YOUR TRACKDAYS COST DOUBLE THAN THAT OF AN OPEN TRACKDAY?
Open
trackdays, as put on by the track management typically fall on
weekdays. The groups are more loosely combined (i.e. "Big
Bikes") mixing beginner riders with expert riders, and sometimes
pros. For a beginner rider, this can be intimidating, especially
if they attend an open trackday near a race weekend when competitors
are testing.
SMhooligans Trackdays are private. First, we try our best to organize
our trackdays to fall on a weekend, when most people will not
have to work. Our group sessions are more strict, allowing for
very like-skilled riders to be on the track together. We also
serve (at most of our events) a catered lunch, which is added
into your cost. We offer shops to come along and answer questions
about your machine if needed, and we have resident experts there
to give pointers to beginner and novice riders.
Q:
WHAT KIND OF BIKES DO YOU ALLOW ON THESE EVENTS?
SUPERMOTOS!!
It seems it would be obvious, but we still get asked this question.
Karting tracks usually only allow single cylinder type motorcycles
650cc and under (the Aprilia SuperMoto, of course, being the exception).
Dirt bikes are fine, however knobbies are frowned upon. There
are many tire manufacturers that offer dual-purpose tires in dirt
bike wheel sizes and we suggest that you buy a set before going
to a karting track. Knobbies are NOT allowed on bikes 250cc and
over. Obviously, sportbikes, standards, and other street oriented
bikes are not allowed.
Mini
roadracing bikes, to include pocketbikes, are not allowed on SMhooligans
trackday events. We may have dirt sections open on the track and
this could pose danger for roadracing style bikes (dirt sections
to be discussed later).
Q:
I DON'T OWN A SUPERMOTO: DO YOU PROVIDE A RENTAL SERVICE?
SMhooligans.com
does not offer a rental service, however, MotoRotica USA, a SMhooligans
partner does offer this service. Please visit their website to
check for current pricing and motorcycles offered.
Q:
I HAVE MORE THAN ONE BIKE I'D LIKE TO BRING. DO I HAVE TO PAY
FOR EACH ONE?
No,
cost is $50.00 per rider. You may bring as many bikes as you'd
like.
Q:
CAN I RIDE MY DUAL-SPORT MOTORCYCLE?
Yes.
Dual-Sports are commonly converted into SuperMotos. As long as
the bike meets the requirements for a prepared motorcycle, you
may bring it. We recommend removing any luggage bags or other
adventure riding or touring accessories.
